Recycling PSA Competition

Announcing the Recycling PSA competition for local filmmakers brought to you by the The Friends of Recycling, Juneau Waste Management, and The JUMP Society.

A PSA or Public Service Announcement is a television commercial for a non-profit group or for the public good. Entries in the Recycling PSA Competition should promote awareness of the local recycling center and encourage recycling in Juneau. Top entries will receive prizes and be aired on local television stations in an effort to build awareness and familiarity with the recycling center.

Prizes:

1st: $300
2nd: $100
3rd, 4th & 5th: $50 gift certificates to local restaurants

Length:

The PSA must be exactly 30 seconds in length. Please include a leader or at least 5 seconds of black before your PSA.

Eligibility:

PSA submissions will be accepted from anyone who isn’t involved in judging or organizing the competition.

Format:

We prefer a DV quality digital file in Quicktime or AVI format.
Mini-DV is good.
We can also accept DVDs but they are more annoying and of a lesser quality.

Judging:

A panel of local judges will evaluate the public service announcements based on creativity, technical merit, and effectiveness of the message. Contest winners will be notified by ~~June 20th~~ August 20th.
